Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare for my facial appointment?
Before coming in for your facial, discontinue using exfoliants and retinoids for at least 3 days. If you do any facial waxing or shaving, wait at least a week before getting a facial. This will ensure that the skin barrier can handle professional exfoliation with less risk of irritation.
Drink plenty of water before and after your facial treatment. Hydration is important to keep our skin healthy and better able to recover from services like chemical peels, dermaplaning, and nanoinfusion.
Avoid sun exposure before your facial, we cannot do any treatments on sunburnt skin. Wear your SPF on your way to get your facial to keep your skin protected.
Lastly, dress comfortably and come prepared to relax and unwind. Part of the magic of facials is to engage in self care and regenerating our energy.
What should I do after my facial?
After your facial treatment, you will have fresh glowing skin. It is important to protect your skin after receiving any professional exfoliation because there is no longer a layer of dead skin on the surface to act as protective layer.
Wear at least SPF 30 every day to protect your skin from UV radiation. If you will be getting sun exposure for more than 2 hours, it is also important to reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours.
Avoid touching or picking at your skin. If you see a whitehead or blackhead that your esthetician has left, it is usually because it was not ready to be extracted or the skin in that area is too delicate. It can be very tempting to try to remove these yourself but it opens the risk for scarring and spreading bacteria.
Avoid excessive heat like saunas, heavy workouts or very hot showers. Heat exposure can cause irritation and sensitivity.
Be gentle with your skin. Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and avoid exfoliating for the next few days. Also be sure to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized to optimize your facial results.
